Lives and works in Ghent
Charlotte Alice Martha Dossche is a visual artist working across painting, photography, and public art. Her multidisciplinary practice reflects a sustained interest in identity and perspective, exploring how people inhabit multiple realities, shaped by context, memory, and personal experience.
Rooted in the understanding that identity is fluid and multifaceted, her approach is shaped by a diverse academic and professional background in architecture and construction engineering: disciplines that have deepened her interest in human environments. In Dossche’s practice, art and study are inextricably linked, founded by a curiosity that spans disciplines.
Dossche’s public works include large-scale wall paintings in which brightly coloured, faceted faces are arranged in carefully considered compositions. Deliberate interactions between shapes and colours result in layered visual relationships, where figures engage in subtle exchanges suggesting both connection and fragmentation.
In parallel with her public works, Dossche develops a more intimate studio practice through oil painting and photography that continues her investigation into perception and reality. Inspired by outdoor walks without corrective eye lenses, she examines the blurred boundary between what is seen, what is felt and what is understood. The resulting images invite viewers to reconsider how perception shapes reality and how individual filters mediate experience.
